Book Review:Into the Wild-by Jon Krakauer

Into the wild in the story of Chris McCandless a young man from a well to do family who after finishing college gave away his savings and cut off contact with his family and began traveling. His goal was Alaska but along the way he made friends that both cared for and admired him. Two year after starting his journey Chris was found dead in an abanoned bus on an alaskian trail.

Along with the people that knew him best and Chris own writings, Krakauer writes a great book told from all sides. I especially apreicated the background on his childhood and view of his family.

Many say McCandless was crazy that his trek was a suicide mission. I do not believe he was crazy, I think selfish is a better word. And a suicide mission no Chris wanted to hike out, but the waters were high. In the end he wasn't prepared for the trip, as bright as he was I truly believed he lacked common sense.

At the end of the book, I wondered if in his last hours did he wish he called his parents? My hope is yes if he did at least they were with him in some way.

10/10
