Movie Advent Calendar

http://www.alt-flix.co.uk/misguid/chrsguid.htm

This is really fun for the movie fan

Superman Returns

Superman Returns is a good movie. Kevin Spacey was a great Lex. I can see Brandon Roush being the man of steel for years to come.

Mission Impossible III

Despite my feelings about Tom Cruise Mission Impossible III was a great action movie. It was so fun to watch.

Da Vinci Code

I was a little gun-shy about this movie not wanting it to ruin the great experience of the book. It stayed pretty true to the book however and was very fast-paced. A great watch.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Teaser Trailer

The Break-Up

The Break-Up revolves around a couple (Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaugh) who break up and each refuse to move out of the condo thy share.

While flat at times being a big Aniston fan it was mildily enjoyable. I am so glad I didn't spend $8 at the movies. It wasn't a bad DVD.

Friends:The Complete First Season

Where it all began. Friends is one of my favorite of all time. Going back watching that Freshman Season is just great. You can see it. The great cast, the good writing. The first season introduces to six unique people.

Ross and his bewilderment over his soon to be ex-wife turned lebian which I think was one of the most clever and funny things in any sitcom. Monica the chef who dates every type of guy from a pretty charmer to a college freshman. Joey the struggling actor and ladies man. Chandler the wise-cracking neurotic. Pheobe the eccentric loner and Rachel the daddy's girl. The combanation of all makes a great blend of comedy.

Living Single-The Complete First Season

Living Single is a great show. I am a big Queen Leitah fan. The support cast is great too. They work so well together the comedic timing is superb.

Cars

Cars is so great to watch just for the anmation itself. The plot and story were a bit weak and slow at times. However I did laugh and smile a lot. The animation and clever characters will keep you watching.

Music Review:Wilco-Being There

Wilco's double CD Being There is great. Wilco really isn't a mainstream band so for them to put out a double CD is great. I've heard them referred to as semi-country. I have always disagreed with that. While some songs from Being There are slowed down the majority of the CD is rock.

The Andy Griffith Show-The Complete First Season

The Andy Griffith show is wonderful. The first season shines. The show revolves around wider Andy Taylor(Andy Griffith), son Opie(Ron Howard) and Aunt Bee. At work he has faithful Deputy Barney Fife(the late great Don Knotts.) Andy is good honest man and everyone is sleepy town of Mayberry looks to him for guidance.

Right from the start you love all. The characters play off each wonderfully. If this show does not give you a good feeling very little will.

The Wedding Date

The Wedding Date was a disappointment. Kat (Debra Messing) plays a women who returns home to London for her sisters wedding where her Ex is the best man. So she hires an escourt(Dermont Malroney) to be her date.

The story is flat and slow. Kat and the escourt have no chemisty neither do she and her Ex. I was bored within 30 minutes.

TV: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

I am so tired of people bashing Studio 60. Its no West Wing, Sorkin istrying to hard. Blah Blah Blah. First its not meant to be West Wing and second Sorkin is Sorkin. From someone who sick of Reality Shows(which by the way there no such thing) Its great see a decent drama.

There are what three of four Law & Order and three CSIs. For all its Freshman woes at least Studio 60 is orignal.

LOST: The Complete Second Season

LOST Season 2 was great. The writing the superb. The discovery of the Hatch and all its mysteries will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Favorite Episode: What Kate Did-Amazing writing.

Favorite Backstory-Rose and Bernard-they wonderful minor characters.

The New Blockbuster Online

For months now Blockbuster has been promoting the launch of a new site. Bigger, better faster type thing. It finally it was up yesterday. I must say it did look good. However that is where it ended. Moving things in the Q was nearly impossible. Removing something required a right click then took another two minutes. Every other time you go do anything you timed out. I haven't timed out since I ran a 28K moderm.

Note to Blockbuster if you are going to promote something for 6 months, when you do put it out, Get it right.

The Simpsons-The Complete Third Season

This is a great Season of the Simpsons. The show that was just hitting its stride at this point and has never let up. Favorite episodes-Radio Bart and Lisa the Greek.

10/10

Friends-The Complete Teneth Season

Friends the Comeplete Teneth Season is really really good. The fact that it is my favorite TV show makes me a little bias but just a little. The season of a show can at times be a letdown but the last season of Friends had some great episodes. It really came full circle. That last episode was one for the ages.

The Simpsons-The Complete First Season

Such a great set. One thing I've learned about the Simpsons that its not just another cartoon series(Which I already knew from it lasting 19 seasons) There are great stories within the episodes and actual lesons learned. Love it.

10/10

American Graffetti

I wanted to love this movie but it was to slow. There were to many little sub plots. You just become interested in one character story and they into another part. However you can't complain about the great cast. Many a career was started with this movie.

5/10

Inside Man

This the slowest thriller I have ever seen. Great actors were wasted in this movie.

The Comeback-First and only Season

I am Lisa Kudrow fan so I was looking forward to seeing this. She was good but the show was just bad. It was about wash up sitcom star that was looking for fame again. Her search was also documented as a reality show. That is where it lost me. Had it just be her looking to find sucess it would be fine. Why does everything have to a reality something? HBO just tried to hard to be different.

LOST The Complete First Season

When this was first on I thought How far can it really go? People on an island not a lot to work with there. Then a few friends said how great it was and final I said what the hell. I got first disc from Blockbuster Online. Fifteen minutes into the pilot episode I was hooked.

Great writing, a tremendous cast. I am so glad I watched via DVD. I don't have people get by on one a week.

Almost Famous

I watched Almost Famous back in 2001 when it was first out on DVD. I wasn't very impressed at that time. Then yesterday I watched it again. What a differance five years makes. I was completely blown away.

I was so envious of William yet proud at the same time. He followed and lived his dream. How many of us can really say that?

The acting the music.........just greatness...

Who knew a guy with the name Farris could be cool? We all think making a movie is fun, but people that make say its very techical and long hours. No one could ever convice me making this movie wasn't fun.

Being an 80's teen, I didn't enjoy many of high school "Brat Pack" movies. The characters were broding and anger was cool. But not Farris, he enbraced life. Yes he lied did things that teens only dreamed of but people loved him for it.

I could never had a day like Farris, the guilt would have gotten me before I hit the front door.

But I'll watch Farris do it over and over again.

Spiderman 2

Usually movie sequels don't live up to the original movie. This is not the case with Spiderman 2. The movie picks up where the firdt left off with Peter Parker leading his double life. We find that he is having a lot of internal struggles. His life as Spiderman is holding him back from the things he wants. I think the guilt over uncle's death is really keeping him torn.

Once again the acting in this movie is really good. Something rarely seen in movie with such major special effects.

Clone Wars

Clone Wars is a short animation Star Wars movie that takes place between episodes 1 and 2. The amination is really good and the voices as well, but nothing compares with the true Star Wars.

Spiderman

A great great movie. I watched it for second time today and realized two things. One, the acting was really good. Two, on some level its a story of love. In a movie with much action and special effects the acting is rarely noticed. Tobey was great. You could feel his loss and not only losing his uncle but also the loss of life as he knows it in becoming Spiderman. The love Peter has for MJ is clear. But we also see the love he has for his family in the choices he makes.

National Treasure

Nicholas Cage was great in this fast-paced drama. His character Ben Gates is looking for treasure whose legend has been in his family for decades.

To get it he must steal the Declaration of Independence. And he just might get the girl.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I wasn't sure about this movie. I was read the book as a small child and haven't seen the 1971 version. However I was very impressed. The cast(although pretty unknown aside from Johnny Depp) was great. Charlie's character was a great kid whose family had very little but were happy.

The storytelling and setting was amazing. The way Grandfather set the story in motion. Just perfect.

Watching this I felt like I had been given a "Golden Ticket."

Hitch

I love Will Smith as an actor and Hitch proves why. He is great in action dramas and comedies. He and Kevin James have great great chemistry.

Pretty Woman

This is the only Julia Roberts movie I like. It was really her first movie and I think that ia why she was so good. Her acting flowed she was real. Now it seems like she tries to hard to be a character.

Rivhard Gere was good as well. The perfect suit and tie business man. He and Roberts were great. The brought out great acting in each other.

School of Rock

Never been a big Jack Black fan. Or I should I have never been a big fan of the type of movie he has done. School of Rock changed my view of him. He likable and even sweet in this roll, I think anyone who has ever dreamed of being a rock star will love this movie.
